FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for running?
While they are built on original running DNA, they are categorized as lifestyle trainers for casual use rather than technical performance footwear.
How do these fit compared to other Saucony models?
They generally follow standard Saucony sizing, providing a slightly wider and more cushioned fit characteristic of 2000s-era running shoes.
Can I replace the insoles?
Yes, the insoles are removable, allowing you to insert custom orthotics if preferred.
Are these trainers water-resistant?
No, the materials used in the ProGrid Guide 7 are breathable and not specifically treated for water resistance.
How should I store them?
Store in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to prevent material degradation and color fading.
Troubleshooting
Creasing in the toe box
This is common with synthetic and mesh materials; use a shoe tree when not wearing to help maintain the original shape.
Difficulty cleaning mesh upper
Use a soft-bristled brush with a gentle soap solution to dab and lift stains rather than scrubbing aggressively, which can tear the mesh.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Iconic, authentic retro visual appeal
- Balanced cushioning for daily comfort
- Durable construction suitable for everyday use
- Versatile unisex design and fit
Cons
- Not intended for technical athletic training
- Limited to specific colorways consistent with the era
- Fit may vary compared to modern slim-profile sneakers
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Saucony ProGrid Guide 7 trainers last, avoid machine washing or drying, which can damage the retro adhesives and materials. Instead, wipe them down with a damp cloth and mild soap to remove surface dirt. If the interior gets wet, air dry them in a cool, shaded area away from direct heat sources. To maintain the fit, ensure you are wearing the correct size for your foot shape, as this model features a traditional athletic build.
