FAQs

Is this jacket suitable for heavy snow?

While the jacket is highly waterproof, it is designed primarily for cool, rainy conditions. It provides insulation, but may require extra base layers in sub-zero temperatures.

Can I tumble dry the Vallina jacket?

It is recommended to air dry the jacket to preserve the integrity of the ISOTEX fabric and the recycled insulation.

What does the 360-degree reflective feature entail?

The jacket includes strategically placed reflective elements on various sides, ensuring the child is visible from all angles in low-light environments.

Does the hood detach?

The hood on this model is integrated, providing a seamless seal against the elements.

How do I determine the right size for my child?

The jacket uses standard UK children's sizing. A size 5-6 is generally suitable for an average-height child in that age range, but check for room to accommodate layers underneath.

Troubleshooting

Water appears to soak into the outer fabric instead of beading off.

The DWR coating may have worn off. Wash the jacket and re-apply a DWR spray treatment to restore water repellency.

The drawcord is stuck or difficult to adjust.

Check the toggles for debris or grit. Gently clear any obstructions and ensure the cord is not twisted inside the hem channel.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of the jacket's waterproof properties, follow these care instructions:

Cleaning: Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 30 degrees Celsius using a mild detergent. Avoid using fabric softeners, as these can strip the waterproof coating.
Drying: Air dry naturally away from direct heat sources like radiators, which can damage the synthetic fibers.
Storage: Hang the jacket on a sturdy hanger in a dry, well-ventilated area. Ensure the drawcords are relaxed to prevent unnecessary tension.
Refreshing: If water no longer beads off the surface after extensive use, consider applying a professional-grade DWR (Durable Water Repellent) re-proofer suitable for synthetic fabrics.
