FAQs

Are these shoes suitable for wide feet?

The Handball Spezial has a standard fit. While the leather is supple, individuals with wider feet may find the narrow, low-profile silhouette a bit snug.

Can I use these for indoor handball?

While inspired by the 1979 handball model, this version is marketed as a fashion/lifestyle shoe. It lacks the modern stability tech found in specialized handball performance footwear.

How do I ensure I order the correct size?

The sizes provided are in UK adult sizing. Refer to the adidas size conversion chart if you are coming from a US or EU size standard.

Does the gum sole yellow over time?

Gum rubber is a natural material that can darken slightly with age and exposure to UV light, which is considered part of the shoe's classic character.

Can I replace the insoles?

Yes, you can remove the existing sockliner if you need to insert your own custom orthotics.

Troubleshooting

Creasing on the leather upper

Use shoe trees when not wearing to help maintain the shape and reduce permanent creasing.

Dirt on the white stripes

Use a specialized sneaker cleaning wipe or a soft cloth with a tiny amount of mild soap and water, wiping gently to avoid discoloration.

Grip reduction on the gum sole

If the sole picks up debris or waxes, wipe the bottom with a damp cloth to restore the natural traction of the rubber.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Versatile beige and white colorway matches diverse outfits
High-quality leather construction
Classic silhouette that never goes out of style
Durable rubber gum sole provides reliable traction

Cons

Not intended for high-impact sports performance
Low-profile sole offers limited arch support
Leather material requires specific cleaning care

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Because these are low-top sneakers, they fit standard sizing, but ensure you verify your UK size (e.g., UK 6.5) before purchase. To maintain the leather upper, keep the shoes away from excessive moisture and direct heat sources. Use a soft, dry brush to remove surface dust. For minor stains, gently wipe with a damp cloth and mild leather-safe cleaner. Do not machine wash these shoes, as the heat and agitation can damage the leather finish and the gum sole adhesive.
