Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG boots feature a classic lacing closure. Upon first wear, ensure laces are tied securely but not excessively tight to allow for comfortable blood flow. The thin, adaptive upper is designed to mold to your foot over time, offering a personalized, snug fit.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically engineered for Firm Ground (FG) surfaces. This means they are ideal for natural grass pitches that are firm and not waterlogged. Using them on artificial grass (AG), turf, or indoor surfaces may compromise their performance, lead to premature wear, and could void any product guarantees. They feature a round toe and flat heel, designed for standard foot profiles.
Care Instructions
To maximize the lifespan and maintain the performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the upper with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. For tougher stains, a mild soap solution can be used. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes which can damage the Gripknit material.
- Soleplate Care: Clean studs and the soleplate with a brush to remove trapped mud or grass. Ensure no debris obstructs the Zoom Air unit area.
- Drying: Allow boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight or artificial heat sources (like radiators), as these can cause materials to stiffen, crack, or shrink.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place. Using a boot bag can protect them from scratches and keep them clean between uses.
- Avoid Overuse on Incompatible Surfaces: As mentioned, stick to firm ground to prevent damage to the soleplate and studs.
