Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting Started (Setup)
- Try On: When first putting on your new boots, ensure you are wearing your usual football socks. The snug fit of the Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG is by design, aiming to provide a 'second-skin' feel.
- Break-in Period: New football boots often require a short break-in period. Start by wearing them during light training sessions or warm-ups before using them in a full match. This helps the materials mold to the unique shape of your foot, enhancing comfort and performance.
Compatibility
- Pitch Type: These boots are specifically designed for Firm Ground (FG) pitches. This means natural grass fields that are relatively dry and firm. Using them on artificial grass (AG), soft ground (SG), or indoor surfaces is not recommended, as it can compromise grip, damage the studs, and potentially void any warranty.
Care Instructions
To maintain the performance, appearance, and extend the lifespan of your Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG boots:
- Clean After Each Use: After every training session or match, remove any mud, dirt, or debris from the upper and soleplate. Use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) for stubborn areas around the studs.
- Wipe Down: With a damp cloth, gently wipe the entire surface of the boots. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the specialized upper materials.
- Air Dry: Always allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Never place them in direct sunlight, on a radiator, or use a hairdryer, as excessive heat can cause the materials to shrink, crack, or become stiff.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, ideally with some ventilation. You can stuff them with newspaper to help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Inspect Regularly: Periodically check the studs for wear or damage. Worn studs can reduce grip and increase the risk of injury.
