No, machine washing will remove the wax finish and damage the garment. Only use cold water and a sponge for spot cleaning.
Depending on usage, it is recommended to re-wax your jacket once a year to ensure it remains water-resistant.
It serves well as an outer shell, but it is best paired with a warm sweater or liner for colder winter temperatures.
Barbour is a British company founded in 1894, with a long history of traditional craftsmanship.
When freshly waxed, it is best to avoid contact with light-colored fabrics until the wax has fully absorbed into the cotton.
Apply a fresh layer of Barbour wax dressing to the surface and heat gently with a hairdryer to ensure even absorption.
Allow the mud or dirt to dry and brush it off gently with a soft-bristled brush.
This jacket does not require any technical setup. For care, avoid machine washing or dry cleaning, as these processes will strip the protective wax coating. Instead, spot clean the exterior with cold water and a sponge as needed. To maintain the jacket's water resistance, it should be re-waxed periodically using official Barbour wax dressing. When storing, ensure the jacket is hung in a well-ventilated area to prevent mildew buildup and to keep the shape of the garment intact.
