No, you should never machine wash or dry clean a waxed jacket, as it will permanently remove the wax finish.
It depends on usage, but once a year is generally recommended for those who wear the jacket frequently.
While the wax provides excellent weather protection, cotton is a natural fiber that maintains a degree of breathability.
Hang the jacket on a sturdy hanger in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct heat.
It is designed for rain and wind; for extreme snowy conditions, layering underneath is recommended for additional thermal insulation.
The wax coating has worn off; apply a new layer of Barbour wax dressing following the manufacturer's instructions.
The jacket may have been over-waxed or exposed to excessive heat. Ensure it is stored in a cool place and avoid high-temperature environments.
This is normal for heavy waxed cotton. Wear the jacket regularly to help the fabric break in and become more supple.
This jacket does not require complex setup; it is ready to wear upon arrival. To ensure longevity, avoid dry cleaning or machine washing, as these processes strip the protective wax. If the jacket becomes dirty, spot clean the outer layer with a cold, damp sponge. Periodically, you should apply a fresh coat of Barbour wax dressing to maintain water repellency. Store your jacket in a well-ventilated, cool area away from direct sunlight or heat sources to prevent the wax from drying out or transferring to other fabrics.
