Setup
- Lacing: Ensure laces are securely but comfortably tied. A proper lacing technique can enhance support and prevent hot spots or blisters. Experiment with different lacing patterns if you experience discomfort.
- Socks: Wear appropriate hiking socks. Moisture-wicking materials and proper cushioning will maximize comfort and GORE-TEX® breathability.
Compatibility
These hiking shoes are designed for a wide array of outdoor environments:
- Terrain: Best suited for varied hiking trails, including dirt paths, rocky sections, muddy ground, and uneven terrain. They are excellent for day hikes, multi-day backpacking trips on established trails, and hill walking.
- Conditions: Ideal for wet and damp conditions due to their GORE-TEX® waterproofing. Suitable for three-season use (spring, summer, autumn).
Care
Proper care extends the lifespan and maintains the performance of your shoes:
- Cleaning: After use, remove loose dirt and mud with a soft brush. For stubborn dirt, use a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh detergents or hot water, as they can damage the GORE-TEX® membrane and leather.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, which can cause the materials to crack or shrink. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Periodically reapply a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment suitable for GORE-TEX® footwear, especially if you notice water no longer beads off the surface. Follow the product's instructions carefully.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight when not in use.
