FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for running?
While the 5030 is runner-inspired, it is designed primarily for daily wear and general fitness rather than high-performance long-distance running.
Does the 5030 series come in different materials?
Yes, depending on the specific model and colorway, the 5030 features varying combinations of leather, polyester, and nylon.
How should I choose the right size?
These trainers generally fit true to size. If you plan to wear thick athletic socks, you may consider a half-size larger than your standard dress shoe size.
Can I remove the insoles?
The footbed is designed for optimal support, but the inserts are typically removable if you require custom orthotics.
Are these machine washable?
No, machine washing can damage the integrity of the adhesive and the shape of the structural panels. Hand cleaning is recommended.
Troubleshooting
Foot feels slightly cramped after long wear
Adjust the lace tension by loosening the eyelets at the midfoot to allow for natural foot swelling during the day.
Visible scuffs on the upper panels
Use a specialized sneaker eraser or a clean, damp cloth with a mild leather/synthetic cleaner, depending on your specific model material.
Slippage in the heel area
Ensure you are using the top lace eyelet to create a 'runner's loop' or heel lock to tighten the hold on the ankle.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your New Balance 5030 trainers last, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Breaking In: Wear the shoes for short periods during the first week to allow the structured upper to adapt to your foot shape.
- Cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush to remove dried mud or dust. For deep cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap. Avoid soaking the shoes or putting them in a washing machine, as this can degrade the bonding agents.
- Drying: Air dry only. Keep away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as high heat can warp the cushioning materials and outsole.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Using a shoe tree can help maintain the shape of the structured upper when not in use.
