Setup, Compatibility & Care
Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and loose paint. For new plaster or previously painted surfaces, a mist coat of diluted Hay Limewash is recommended. Test on an inconspicuous area first.
Compatibility: This product is designed for interior walls. It is compatible with plaster, drywall, and previously decorated surfaces that are sound. It is not recommended for high-traffic areas that require frequent washing, such as kitchens or bathrooms prone to steam, unless properly sealed. For a more durable finish in such areas, consider Farrow & Ball's Modern Emulsion or Eggshell finishes in Hay.
Application: Apply using a large masonry brush in a cross-hatch pattern, ensuring even coverage. Avoid overworking the paint. Allow adequate drying time between coats as per Farrow & Ball recommendations.
Care: Limewash is delicate. Clean gently using a soft, dry cloth or a very slightly damp sponge for minor marks. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive scrubbing, as this can damage the finish.
