Product Information

Full details

The Regatta Frankie Borg Fleece is designed for adults seeking reliable warmth and everyday comfort during cooler weather. This insulating layer features a soft borg construction that excels as a casual staple, perfect for commuting, relaxed weekends, or general day-to-day wear. While it provides excellent heat retention and layering convenience, the polyester material is best suited for moderate activity rather than high-intensity aerobic sports where moisture management is critical.

FAQs

Is this fleece windproof?

The Frankie Borg Fleece is designed for insulation rather than wind protection. In windy conditions, we recommend wearing it under a windproof shell jacket.

Can I machine wash this item?

Yes, it is machine washable. We recommend a cool, gentle cycle and air drying to protect the material.

What is the best way to layer this fleece?

Wear a thin, moisture-wicking base layer underneath the fleece. If it is very cold or raining, layer a waterproof shell over the top.

Does the material pill?

Like all fleece fabrics, some pilling may occur with heavy friction. Following the care instructions will minimize this.

Is this fleece suitable for high-intensity hiking?

While warm, this fleece is best suited for casual, low-to-moderate activities. For high-intensity sports, a more breathable, technical fleece may be preferable.

Troubleshooting

Fleece feels less fluffy after several washes

Avoid fabric softeners. Once dry, gently shake the garment or use a soft-bristled garment brush to lift the fibers.

Zipper feels stiff or catches

Ensure no fabric lint is caught in the track. You can gently rub a graphite pencil lead along the teeth to act as a dry lubricant.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent warmth-to-weight ratio for cool days
  • Easy-to-use full-length zipper for temperature control
  • Soft, comfortable fabric texture against the skin
  • Versatile design suitable for various casual settings
  • Simple to incorporate into a layered clothing system

Cons

  • Polyester can hold odors more than natural fibers
  • Not windproof, may require a shell in gusty conditions
  • Bulky texture may not fit under tight-fitting waterproof jackets

Setup, Compatibility & Care

This garment is ready to wear straight out of the packaging. To maintain the loft and softness of the borg fleece, follow these care guidelines:

  1. Washing: Machine wash on a gentle, cool cycle to prevent the synthetic fibers from matting.
  2. Detergent: Use a mild, non-biological detergent; avoid fabric softeners, as they can degrade the insulating properties of the synthetic fleece.
  3. Drying: Air dry whenever possible. Avoid high-heat tumble drying, as it can cause the polyester to shrink or the texture to lose its "borg" quality.
  4. Storage: Hang in a cool, dry place to ensure the fleece maintains its shape.
