Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Your Gelert Horizon Mid Waterproof Walking Boots are ready for use right out of the box. Simply lace them up securely, ensuring a comfortable fit that supports your ankle without being too tight. We recommend wearing them for shorter walks initially to allow for a natural break-in period, which helps the boots conform to the unique shape of your feet.
Compatibility
These boots are primarily designed for hiking, nature walks, and general outdoor use in varied weather conditions, especially wet environments. They are suitable for light to moderate trails and diverse terrains. While excellent for walking, they are not intended for heavy-duty mountaineering, running, or specialized activities requiring rigid sole support or advanced technical features.
Product Care & Maintenance
Proper care will extend the lifespan and maintain the performance of your waterproof walking boots. Follow these simple steps:
- Cleaning: After use, especially if they are muddy or dirty, clean your boots using a soft damp cloth. Gently wipe away dirt and debris from the synthetic upper and the outsole. Avoid harsh scrubbing or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the waterproof membrane and material.
- Drying: Allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources like radiators, fireplaces, or direct sunlight, as this can cause the materials to crack or warp and compromise the waterproof integrity.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure they are clean and completely dry before storing to prevent mold or mildew growth.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: While the boots feature a waterproof membrane, regularly cleaning them helps maintain this performance. Over time, external water repellency may diminish; consider applying a suitable waterproof treatment spray for synthetic footwear if you notice water no longer beads off the surface.
