FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for running marathons?
The ASICS Gel-Kayano 12.1 is designed for comfort and everyday use, including light jogging. For marathon running, it is recommended to use shoes specifically engineered for high-mileage performance and specialized support.
How is the ventilation in these trainers?
The trainers feature a breathable mesh and synthetic upper designed to provide good airflow, helping to keep your feet cool and comfortable during wear.
What does 'FLUIDRIDE® technology' do?
FLUIDRIDE® technology is ASICS' midsole cushioning technology that provides a combination of bounce-back and cushioning properties, resulting in a smooth, responsive, and comfortable ride.
Is the "White Graphite" color accurate to the product images?
The "White Graphite" colorway features shades of white, brown, and silver. Minor variations may occur due to monitor settings and lighting conditions during photography.
Can I wash these trainers in a washing machine?
It is not recommended to machine wash these trainers, as it can damage the cushioning materials and adhesives. Hand washing with a damp cloth is the preferred cleaning method.
What does 'dope-dyed' mean for the insole?
Dope-dyeing is a process where pigment is added to the polymer melt before extrusion. For the insole, this method reduces water consumption and waste compared to traditional dyeing processes.
What is the primary difference between this model and the original 2006 Gel-Kayano?
The Gel-Kayano 12.1 is a modern reinterpretation that incorporates updated technologies like FLUIDRIDE® and advanced GEL™ cushioning, while retaining design elements inspired by the original 2006 model. It uses contemporary materials and manufacturing techniques.
Troubleshooting
Sizing feels off
Consult the ASICS sizing chart and compare with your current footwear. Consider trying on in-store if possible, as fit can vary.
Reduced cushioning over time
While GEL™ cushioning is durable, it can degrade with extensive use. For prolonged comfort, consider replacement after significant mileage or wear.
Material feels stiff initially
The synthetic and mesh materials may require a short break-in period. Wear them for short durations initially to allow them to mold to your foot shape.
Discoloration of the white upper
Avoid contact with dark or dyed fabrics that may transfer color. Clean promptly with a damp cloth if minor marks occur.
