No, this is a shell jacket and does not contain insulation. It is designed to be worn over insulating layers in cold weather.
Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water using a mild technical detergent. Tumble dry on low to help reactivate the waterproof finish.
No, the Quest DryVent model does not feature underarm pit zips.
Yes, the durable polyester material is suitable for hiking, though frequent rubbing from heavy straps can eventually wear down the surface fabric over time.
No, the hood is integrated into the jacket design for maximum wind and water protection.
The DWR coating is likely worn out. Wash the jacket and reapply a DWR spray treatment to restore water repellency.
This is often caused by condensation buildup from trapped body heat; try opening the front zipper slightly to improve ventilation or remove a base layer.
To ensure the longevity of your jacket, always follow the care label instructions provided by The North Face. Generally, the jacket should be machine-washed on a gentle cycle with a technical fabric detergent to maintain the integrity of the waterproofing treatment. Avoid using fabric softeners or bleach, as these can strip the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating. Periodically reapplying a DWR spray can help maintain the fabric's ability to bead water. When storing, keep the jacket in a dry, ventilated area rather than compressed in a damp bag for extended periods to prevent mildew growth.
