FAQs
Are these shoes waterproof?
Yes, they are equipped with a GORE-TEX membrane designed to keep your feet dry in wet weather conditions.
Can I use these for winter hiking?
While the shoes are waterproof and stable, they are designed primarily for three-season hiking. They do not feature significant insulation for extreme cold.
How should I clean the leather upper?
Use a soft brush to remove surface dirt and a damp cloth for deeper cleaning. Avoid submerging the shoes or using chemical solvents.
Are these suitable for wide feet?
The X Ultra 360 series generally offers a standard fit. If you are between sizes or have very wide feet, consider trying them on with your preferred hiking socks.
What is the purpose of the Advanced Chassis?
The Advanced Chassis is a molded insert embedded in the outsole to provide extra stability, energy return, and protection on technical trails.
Does the GORE-TEX membrane make the shoe hot?
GORE-TEX is designed to be breathable, but as a waterproof membrane, it will be warmer than a non-waterproof mesh shoe. Wearing appropriate technical socks helps manage moisture.
Troubleshooting
Shoes feel too tight initially
Ensure you are using the correct sock thickness and adjust the lacing tension throughout the midfoot to allow for natural foot swelling during activity.
Moisture buildup inside the shoe
Ensure you are using moisture-wicking synthetic or merino wool socks, as cotton socks can trap perspiration despite the GORE-TEX breathability.
Loss of traction over time
Check the outsole for caked-on mud or debris between the lugs. Use a stiff brush to clear the tread pattern.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Salomon X Ultra 360 shoes provide years of service, follow these guidelines:
- Break-in Period: Wear the shoes for shorter walks on varied surfaces before committing to a multi-day backpacking trip to allow the leather and chassis to mold to your foot shape.
- Cleaning: Remove excess dirt and mud with a soft brush after every hike. If the leather becomes heavily soiled, wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap; do not use harsh detergents.
- Drying: Always air dry the shoes away from direct heat sources like radiators or fireplaces, which can crack the leather or damage the adhesive bonds.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area to prevent mildew from forming on the leather or inside the GORE-TEX membrane.
- Waterproofing: Periodically apply a leather-safe waterproofing treatment to the upper to maintain the longevity of the natural material.
