Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your Nike Initiator shoes is straightforward:
- Lacing: Ensure the laces are threaded correctly through all eyelets. Start with a firm but not overly tight lacing at the toe box.
- Fit Check: Once laced, stand up and walk around. Your toes should have about a thumb's width of space between the longest toe and the end of the shoe. The midfoot should feel secure but not constricted.
- Break-In: While comfortable out of the box, it's advisable to wear them for shorter periods initially (e.g., a few hours for a walk) before prolonged use, to allow the shoe to fully conform to your foot shape.
Compatibility
The Nike Initiator is highly compatible with:
- Activities: Recreational running, walking, casual everyday wear, light gym workouts.
- Surfaces: Suitable for roads, sidewalks, track, and indoor surfaces.
- Attire: Pairs well with athletic wear, casual jeans, shorts, and active leisure outfits due to its versatile design.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your shoes:
- Cleaning: Gently clean the upper with a soft brush or cloth and a mild soap solution (e.g., diluted dish soap). Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. For the midsole and outsole, wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Drying: Always allow your shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, which can damage materials. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keeping them in their original box or a shoe bag can protect them from dust and dirt.
- Odor Management: To prevent odor, air out your shoes after each use. Consider using shoe deodorizers or placing baking soda in the shoes overnight occasionally.
