Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
The Nike Downshifter 13 features a straightforward setup:
- Lacing: Thread the classic laces through the eyelets.
- Fit Adjustment: Ensure the tongue is centered and the heel is seated comfortably in the back of the shoe.
- Secure Lacing: Tie the laces securely, but not too tightly, to achieve a snug yet comfortable fit. Adjust tension as needed for different activities.
Compatibility
These shoes are primarily designed for:
- Activities: Road running, gym workouts, walking, and casual wear.
- Surfaces: Best suited for paved roads, tracks, treadmills, and indoor gym floors. While durable, they are not optimized for highly technical trails or extreme off-road conditions.
- Footwear: Wear with athletic socks for optimal comfort and moisture wicking.
Care Instructions
Proper care helps extend the life and appearance of your Downshifter 13 shoes:
- Cleaning:
- Surface Dirt: Gently brush off loose dirt with a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) or a dry cloth.
- Stains: Mix a small amount of mild detergent with cold water. Use a cloth or sponge dampened with this solution to gently rub away stains. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Laces: Remove laces and wash them separately by hand with soap and water, or place them in a mesh bag for machine washing on a delicate cycle.
- Drying:
- Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature.
- Avoid direct sunlight, radiators, or tumble dryers, as excessive heat can damage materials and adhesives.
- You can stuff the shoes with paper towels to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape during drying.
- Storage:
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Keep them away from damp environments to prevent mildew and odors.
- Odor Control:
- If odors develop, remove insoles and allow them to air out. You can also use shoe deodorizers or sprinkle baking soda inside the shoes overnight (then vacuum or brush out).
