FG/MG stands for Firm Ground/Multi-Ground. This means the boots are designed with a versatile soleplate suitable for playing on both natural grass pitches (Firm Ground) and various types of artificial grass (Multi-Ground) surfaces.
Yes, while the comfortable lining aims for a close fit, a short break-in period is recommended. Wear them during light training sessions to allow the materials to soften and mold to your feet, which helps prevent discomfort during full matches.
After each use, tap off excess dirt, then wipe the boots with a damp cloth or soft brush. Stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and air dry them at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources or washing machines.
Yes, the Multi-Ground (MG) soleplate is specifically designed to perform well on various types of artificial grass surfaces, in addition to natural firm ground pitches.
The internal 'speed cage' is a thin, strong material structure inside the boot that secures your foot to the soleplate. It provides lockdown and stability, preventing your foot from sliding around inside the boot during quick movements and sprints.
Nike Mercurial boots generally run true to size for most players. However, foot shapes vary, so if you have particularly wide feet, you might consider trying them on or consulting a size guide. The close-fitting design is intended for optimal performance.
Ensure you've fully broken them in by wearing them during light activities. If discomfort persists, check your sock thickness or consider if the size is appropriate. Sometimes, lacing patterns can be adjusted for relief.
Thoroughly clean the soleplate to remove any mud or debris from the studs. Ensure you are playing on a surface compatible with FG/MG boots; extremely wet grass or worn-out artificial turf might still present traction challenges.
Practice a double knot or try alternative lacing techniques like the 'surgeon's knot' for increased security. Ensure the laces are pulled tight enough before tying.
