Setup, Compatibility & Care: Maximizing Longevity
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure you lace your boots securely but comfortably. Start from the bottom eyelets and pull evenly to achieve a snug fit that supports your foot without causing pressure points. Experiment with different lacing patterns if you experience discomfort.
- Initial Wear: Wear your new boots for short periods during training sessions before using them in a match. This helps the FitKnit™ upper mold to your foot and breaks in the soleplate, ensuring optimal comfort and performance.
Compatibility
These Skechers Razor Elite boots are specifically designed for Firm Ground (FG) pitches. This includes natural grass fields that are dry and well-maintained. While they might be used on slightly softer surfaces, performance may be compromised, and the risk of stud damage or personal injury could increase. They are not recommended for Artificial Ground (AG), Soft Ground (SG), or Indoor (IC) surfaces, as the stud configuration is not suited for these terrains.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your boots:
- Cleaning After Each Use: After every game or training session, gently tap the boots together to dislodge excess mud and grass. Use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) to clean between the studs. Wipe the upper with a damp cloth to remove dirt.
- Drying: Never dry your boots with direct heat (e.g., radiators, hairdryers) as this can damage the synthetic materials and adhesives. Instead, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and maintain their shape, then let them air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. Using a boot bag can protect them from scuffs and scratches when not in use.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not put your football boots in a washing machine, as this can severely damage the materials and structure.
- Refer to Product Label: Always consult the product label inside your boots for any specific care instructions provided by Skechers.
