Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Birkenstock Arizona sandals come ready to wear, but a quick adjustment ensures the best fit:
- Unbuckle Straps: Loosen both metal buckles on the two straps.
- Slide Foot In: Place your foot into the sandal, ensuring your heel sits snugly in the heel cup and your toes rest comfortably behind the raised toe bar.
- Adjust Straps: Fasten the straps so they are snug but not tight. You should be able to slide one finger underneath each strap. The straps should hold your foot securely to the footbed without causing pressure or discomfort.
- Walk and Assess: Take a few steps. Your foot should feel stable, and the sandal should move with you. Make small adjustments as needed.
Compatibility
These sandals are designed for adults with a UK foot size of 10.5. Their classic black suede finish makes them highly compatible with a wide range of casual attire. They pair well with:
- Casual Wear: Jeans, shorts, chinos, cargo pants.
- Summer Attire: Linen trousers, casual dresses, skirts.
- Loungewear: For comfortable wear around the house or garden.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and preserve the appearance of your suede Birkenstock Arizona sandals:
- Suede Protection: Before first wear, apply a high-quality suede and nubuck protector spray. Reapply periodically as per product instructions.
- Regular Cleaning: Use a suede brush to gently remove dust and dirt. Brush in one direction to maintain the nap of the suede. For tougher spots, a suede eraser can be used.
- Spot Cleaning: For liquid stains, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub. For dried stains, use a suede brush or eraser. For stubborn marks, a specialized suede cleaner may be required, following the product's instructions carefully.
- Drying: If your sandals get wet, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight. Do not put them in a dryer.
- Cork Footbed Care: To protect the cork from drying out and cracking, apply a thin layer of Birkenstock Cork Sealer every few months, or when the cork appears dry. This helps to maintain its flexibility and integrity.
- Storage: Store your sandals in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid storing them in plastic bags, as this can trap moisture.
- Avoid Water: Suede is not waterproof. Avoid wearing these sandals in heavy rain, puddles, or very wet conditions.
