Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup and Wear
- Adjust Straps: Before your first wear, loosen the two buckle straps, put your foot in the sandal, and then adjust each strap so it holds your foot securely but not too tightly. There should be a small gap between your foot and the strap.
- Break-in Period: Wear your new Birkenstocks for short periods initially (e.g., 1-2 hours a day) to allow the cork footbed to gradually mold to your foot's unique shape. This helps ensure maximum comfort and support over time.
- Proper Fit: Ensure your heels sit comfortably in the heel cup and your toes rest within the toe bar, with a small gap between your toes and the front edge of the sandal.
Compatibility
These Birkenstock Arizona sandals are designed for adult wear and offer a standard width, suitable for most foot types. They are versatile for various casual occasions and can be paired with shorts, jeans, dresses, or casual trousers. They are primarily intended for everyday walking and comfort.
Product Care
- Avoid Water Exposure: The suede upper and cork footbed are sensitive to water. Do not submerge your sandals in water or wear them in heavy rain. If they do get wet, let them air dry slowly away from direct heat.
- Cleaning the Suede Upper: Use a suede brush to gently remove dirt and scuffs. For stubborn spots, a specialized suede cleaner can be used according to product instructions. Always brush in one direction to maintain the nap.
- Cleaning the Footbed: The footbed can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild soap. Allow it to air dry completely before wearing. Do not soak the footbed.
- Protecting the Cork: Birkenstock recommends applying a thin layer of cork sealant periodically to the exposed cork edges to prevent drying out and cracking.
- Storage: Store your sandals in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Keep them away from pets that might be tempted to chew on them.
- Sole Wear: Monitor the EVA sole for wear. Birkenstock offers resoling services for extending the life of your sandals if the soles become significantly worn.
