Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Try On: Wear your preferred hiking socks when trying on the boots to ensure the best fit. Your toes should not touch the front, and your heel should have minimal lift.
- Lacing: Use a lacing technique that secures your foot without creating pressure points. Experiment with different lacing patterns to find what's most comfortable for your foot shape. A common method is to skip eyelets over high insteps or use a surgeon's knot for extra ankle security.
Compatibility
These boots are designed for adult male hikers and are compatible with various hiking accessories like gaiters, which can be attached to provide extra protection against debris and water ingress over the top of the boot.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in muddy conditions, brush off loose dirt. Use a damp cloth and warm water to gently clean the outer material. For stubborn dirt, a soft brush can be used. Avoid harsh detergents or solvents, as these can damage the waterproofing.
- Drying: Always allow your boots to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area, away from direct heat sources like radiators or campfires. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Re-Waterproofing: Over time, the Hydropel water-resistant treatment may diminish. Periodically apply a suitable waterproof treatment spray or wax designed for breathable hiking footwear to maintain performance. Follow the product's instructions carefully.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure they are completely dry before storing.
