Setup
- Lacing: Ensure the laces are tightened evenly from the toes upwards. Use the heel and tongue pull loops to help slide your foot in comfortably.
- Fit Check: Your toes should have about a thumb's width of space at the end of the shoe, and your heel should feel secure without excessive slipping. Wear the type of socks you typically use for walking to get the most accurate fit.
- Breaking In: While generally comfortable out of the box, wear the shoes for short periods around the house or on short walks before attempting longer excursions to allow them to conform to your feet.
Compatibility
These shoes are designed for:
- Light to moderate trail walking
- Everyday casual wear in varied weather
- Dog walking and general outdoor activities
- Travel where comfortable, protective footwear is needed
They are less suited for:
- Heavy backpacking with significant loads
- Technical climbing or scrambling
- Deep snow or extreme cold conditions (due to low cut and specific insulation)
Care
- Cleaning the Upper:
- Brush off loose dirt with a soft brush (e.g., an old toothbrush) after each use.
- For tougher dirt, wipe the suede and mesh areas with a damp cloth and mild soap (non-detergent).
- Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing, as this can damage the waterproofing and materials.
- For suede, use a specialized suede cleaner and brush if necessary, following product instructions.
- Maintaining Waterproofing: Over time, the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating on the outer fabric may wear off. You can restore this by applying a suitable fabric and suede-safe waterproofing spray or treatment product.
- Drying: If the shoes become wet inside, remove the insoles and stuff the shoes with newspaper or paper towels to absorb moisture. Allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources like radiators or open fires, which can damage the materials.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
