Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Base Camp Duffel comes ready for adventure. To utilize the backpack carrying feature:
- Locate the two detachable, adjustable alpine-cut shoulder straps. They are typically attached to D-rings at the top and bottom of one side of the duffel.
- Adjust the strap length using the buckles for a comfortable fit when worn as a backpack. Ensure they are evenly adjusted to distribute weight.
- The padded side handles can be used for traditional duffel carrying or as haul handles for loading/unloading.
Compatibility
This 95-liter duffel is compatible with a wide range of gear and travel needs:
- Outdoor Gear: Easily accommodates camping equipment, climbing gear, ski apparel, or diving essentials.
- Travel: Suitable for extended trips, international travel, and as checked luggage on flights (always check airline specific size and weight restrictions for 95L volume).
- Separation: The end-cap compartment is perfect for isolating shoes, dirty laundry, wet swimwear, or soiled recovery gear from your main items.
Care
To ensure your Base Camp Duffel maintains its iconic durability and appearance:
- Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap (if necessary) to remove dirt, mud, or stains. Avoid harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the water-resistant coating.
- Drying: Air dry the duffel thoroughly, both inside and out, before storing to prevent mildew or odors. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. The included mesh-bag packaging can help keep the duffel clean during storage.
- Zipper Maintenance: Periodically inspect zippers for debris. If they become stiff, a small amount of zipper lubricant or wax can improve their function.
