Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting the most out of your Nike Metcon 9 involves proper fitting, understanding its optimal use, and simple maintenance.
Setup and Fit
- Lacing: Ensure you lace your Metcons securely but comfortably. Utilize all eyelets for a locked-down fit, especially during lifting or intense movements. You can experiment with different lacing patterns to best suit your foot shape and activity.
- Initial Wear: When first wearing your Metcon 9s, take them for a light workout to allow the materials to conform to your feet. The shoe is designed to be supportive, so a snug fit is expected.
Compatibility
- Ideal for: Weightlifting, powerlifting, CrossFit, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), functional fitness, and general gym workouts.
- Less Ideal for: Long-distance running (marathons, extended road runs), casual everyday walking (though comfortable for short periods), or sports requiring specialized cleats.
Care and Maintenance
Caring for your Metcon 9s will extend their lifespan and maintain their performance:
- Cleaning: Use a soft brush or damp cloth with mild soap to clean the upper and outsole. Gently scrub away dirt and grime. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Drying: Always air dry your shoes at room temperature. Do not put them in a dryer or use direct heat, as this can damage materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Avoid leaving them in damp gym bags for extended periods.
- Odor Control: If odors develop, you can use shoe deodorizers or place baking soda packets inside the shoes to absorb moisture and smells. Allowing them to air out after each use is also beneficial.
