FAQs

Does this cladding need to be painted?

No, the Storm Grey color is integrated into the PVC-U, meaning it never needs painting or staining.

Can I install this directly onto a brick wall?

No, it must be installed onto a framework of treated timber battens to allow for necessary air circulation behind the boards.

How long is the warranty?

It includes a 10-year performance guarantee against warping, splitting, or cracking, and a 5-year discolouration guarantee.

Is the material fire resistant?

PVC-U is inherently flame-retardant and meets standard building regulation requirements for exterior cladding applications.

How do I cut the 5-meter boards?

The boards can be cut using standard woodworking power tools, such as a fine-toothed circular saw or a jigsaw, to achieve clean edges.

Troubleshooting

Visible gaps between joints

Ensure that thermal expansion gaps are accounted for during installation and check that boards are properly seated in the overlapping channel.

Surface dirt accumulation

Wash the cladding annually with a mild detergent and a soft sponge to prevent the build-up of environmental pollutants.

Board appearing loose

Check that the supporting timber battens are securely anchored to the building substrate and that fixings have not pulled through the PVC flange.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Resistant to rot, warping, and fungal growth
Modern, deep Storm Grey aesthetic
Minimal maintenance requirements
Easy to clean with basic household solutions
Long 5-meter boards reduce the number of visible seams

Cons

Requires professional installation tools for cutting and fastening
Color is permanent and cannot be repainted easily
The 5-meter length can be difficult to transport for individual hobbyists

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Installation requires a sub-frame of treated timber battens to ensure proper ventilation behind the cladding. Ensure that the battens are installed at recommended intervals to prevent board bowing. Use appropriate stainless steel fixings to avoid corrosion and rust staining on the PVC surface.

For cleaning, simply use a soft cloth or sponge with warm soapy water to remove surface debris. Avoid abrasive scourers or solvent-based cleaners that could damage the embossed finish. Regularly inspect the fixings to ensure they remain secure as the structure expands and contracts with extreme temperature changes.
