Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup and Preparation
- Clean the Surface: Before painting, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, loose paint, mold, or algae. Use a stiff brush or appropriate cleaner.
- Sand (Optional for Timber): For previously painted or very rough timber, a light sanding can help with adhesion and a smoother finish. Remove all dust after sanding.
- Prime Metal Surfaces: If you intend to paint metal, apply a suitable metal primer first. This is crucial for proper adhesion and long-term durability.
- Stir the Paint: Thoroughly stir the paint before and during use to ensure colour consistency and even application.
Compatibility
Ronseal Garden Paint is designed for extensive compatibility with various outdoor materials:
- Exterior Timber: Fences, sheds, trellises, garden furniture.
- Metal: Gates, furniture, decorative items (requires a primer).
- Terracotta: Plant pots, decorative garden figures.
- Brick: Garden walls, borders.
- Stone: Stone features, paving borders.
Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning Painted Surfaces: For general cleaning, simply wipe painted surfaces with a damp cloth to remove dirt or dust. For tougher stains, a mild detergent can be used.
- Touch-ups: If surfaces show signs of wear or damage over time, light sanding of the affected area and a new coat of Ronseal Garden Paint can restore its appearance and protection.
- Tool Cleanup: Info needed: Specific cleaning agents for solvent-based paint tools. Typically, white spirit or brush cleaner is recommended for solvent-based paints.
