Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Wear & Compatibility
Upon receiving your Nike Dunk Low GORE-TEX shoes, inspect them for any manufacturing defects. The fit should be snug but comfortable, with enough room for your toes to wiggle slightly. These shoes are designed for casual wear and light athletic activities. They pair well with a wide range of casual attire, from jeans and shorts to athletic wear.
Care & Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and performance of your GORE-TEX leather shoes, follow these care instructions:
- Cleaning:
- Surface Dirt: Gently brush off loose dirt with a soft brush (like a shoe brush or old toothbrush).
- Stains: Mix a small amount of mild soap (e.g., dish soap) with lukewarm water. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the solution, wring it out, and gently wipe down the leather and GORE-TEX surfaces. Do not saturate the shoes.
- Rinsing: Wipe clean with a damp cloth soaked in plain water to remove any soap residue.
- Drying: Air dry at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources like radiators or hairdryers, as this can damage the leather and the GORE-TEX membrane. Stuff the shoes with paper towels to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape during drying.
- Waterproofing (GORE-TEX): The GORE-TEX membrane provides inherent waterproofing. However, to maintain the water repellency of the outer leather, especially over time, you can apply a GORE-TEX safe leather protector spray or balm. Always follow the product's instructions.
- Leather Care: To prevent the leather from drying out or cracking, apply a leather conditioner specifically designed for GORE-TEX compatible footwear every few months, or as needed. This will help keep the leather supple.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Using shoe trees can help maintain their shape and absorb moisture.
