Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup and Application:
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, and loose debris. For best adhesion, lightly scuffing smooth surfaces might be beneficial.
- Ventilation: Apply in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors, as the product has a distinct odor during application.
- Application Method: Shake the can vigorously for at least one minute before and during use. Apply in thin, even coats using a sweeping motion, holding the can about 6-10 inches from the surface. Allow each coat to dry for at least 15-30 minutes before applying the next.
- Coats: Apply 4-6 coats for optimal durability and ease of removal. For heavy-duty applications, more coats may be recommended.
- Drying: Allow the final coat to air dry for at least 4 hours before handling or exposing to elements. Full cure can take up to 24 hours.
Compatibility:
Plasti Dip can be applied to metal, wood, plastic, glass, masonry, fabric, concrete, and more. It is crucial to test on an inconspicuous area first, especially on plastics, to ensure compatibility.
Care:
- Clean gently with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- If the coating is damaged, touch-ups can be applied by recoating the affected area after proper cleaning.
