Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Setup
Using your Hunter Original Short boots is straightforward:
- Wear Appropriate Socks: For optimal comfort, especially in cooler weather, wear a pair of socks that are suitable for wellington boots. Hunter boot socks are specifically designed for this purpose.
- Put On Boots: Slide your feet into the boots. The short height makes them easy to put on and take off.
- Adjust the Strap: Use the side buckle strap to adjust the fit around your calf. Tighten it for a more secure fit or loosen it for more comfort.
Compatibility
- Clothing: These boots pair well with a variety of casual outfits, including jeans, leggings, dresses, and skirts. Their shorter height offers more styling versatility than taller wellingtons.
- Weather: Best suited for rainy, damp, or muddy conditions. While waterproof, they are not designed for extreme cold without additional thermal socks.
Care
Proper care extends the life and appearance of your Hunter boots:
- Cleaning: After use, especially in muddy conditions, wipe the boots clean with a damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, a soft brush and mild soap can be used. Rinse thoroughly.
- Drying: Always allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators, open fires, or direct sunlight, as these can cause the rubber to dry out, crack, or discolour.
- Storage: Store your boots upright in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. Do not store them folded or creased.
- Bloom (White Film): Hunter wellington boots are made from natural rubber, which can sometimes develop a white, powdery film known as 'bloom'. This is a characteristic of high-quality natural rubber and is not a defect. It can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth and can be restored using Hunter Boot Shine or Hunter Rubber Buffer.
