Belstaff Racemaster Jacket - Black - Cotton

The Belstaff Racemaster Jacket requires specialist dry cleaning only to maintain its waxed cotton finish. Do not machine wash, hand wash, tumble dry, iron, or bleach the jacket.

The jacket is constructed from 6oz waxed cotton, which makes it highly wind and water-repellent, offering significant protection against rain and wind. However, it is not considered fully waterproof like a hardshell jacket designed for extreme conditions.

While it is possible for experienced individuals to re-wax cotton jackets, it is generally recommended to have the jacket re-proofed by a specialist. This ensures the correct type of wax is used and applied properly, maintaining the jacket's appearance and protective qualities.

This jacket is ideal for unpredictable weather conditions, providing excellent protection against wind and rain. It is well-suited for cooler seasons like autumn and spring, and can also be worn in milder winter climates.

Store your jacket in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid storing it in plastic garment bags for extended periods, as this can trap moisture. Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat sources like radiators or open fires.

Yes, the Belstaff Racemaster Jacket is designed to fit true to size. It is cut with a regular fit, so you should take your normal size for the intended fit.

New waxed cotton jackets can be quite stiff initially. The best solution is to wear the jacket regularly. Over time, the material will soften and mold to your body, becoming more comfortable and supple.

The waxed finish, which provides water resistance, can wear down over extended use or after specialist cleaning. To restore full water repellency, the jacket may need to be re-waxed. It is recommended to seek a specialist service experienced in re-proofing waxed cotton garments to ensure proper application and protection.

Waxed cotton can naturally have a distinct aroma, especially when new. Ensure the jacket is aired out in a well-ventilated space for several days or weeks. Avoid storing it in enclosed or damp areas, which can exacerbate odors. If the odor persists or seems unusual, consult a specialist cleaner.
