Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Initial Fit: When you first receive your boots, try them on with the type of socks you typically wear for soccer. Ensure a snug, comfortable fit. The low-cut slip-on design means there's no extensive lacing setup; just slide them on and secure the laces if present for a personalized snugness.
- Break-in Period: While the microfiber upper is soft, a short break-in period may be beneficial. Wear them for light training sessions or casual kickabouts before a full match to allow them to fully adapt to your foot shape.
Compatibility
These boots feature an FG/AG (Firm Ground/Artificial Ground) outsole, making them highly versatile and suitable for:
- Firm Natural Surfaces (FG): Traditional grass pitches that are not excessively wet or muddy.
- Artificial Grass (AG): Specifically designed for modern 4G artificial turf pitches. Avoid using them on older, more abrasive 2G/3G turf if possible, as it can accelerate wear.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your Puma King Match boots:
- After Each Use: Remove any loose dirt, mud, or artificial turf pellets immediately after playing. Use a soft brush or cloth to gently wipe away debris.
- Cleaning the Upper: For the microfiber upper, use a damp cloth with mild soap and water. *Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners* as these can damage the material, especially the recycled content. Wipe clean, then rinse the cloth and wipe again to remove soap residue.
- Cleaning the Outsole: Use a brush (a dedicated boot brush or an old toothbrush works well) and water to clean the studs and outsole, removing any trapped dirt or grass.
- Drying: *Never* machine wash or tumble dry your boots. Allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or heat sources (like radiators), which can cause the material to crack or harden. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. A boot bag can protect them from scratches and dust during transport.
- Odor Control: If odors develop, sprinkle a small amount of baking soda inside the boots overnight and shake it out in the morning. Shoe deodorizers can also be used.
