The Ronseal Decking Stain is designed for homeowners looking to protect and enhance their wooden decks. Its primary benefit is a hardwearing, scuff-resistant finish that shields against cracking, peeling, and blistering, while also resisting foot traffic. A minor caveat is its coverage rate of 6.4 m² per litre, which may require careful calculation for larger projects. This durable formula provides a natural finish, offering protection that withstands the elements and daily use, becoming rainproof in just 90 minutes.

The stain is rainproof in 90 minutes. However, for recoating or full use, allow approximately 2-4 hours between coats and before heavy foot traffic, depending on ambient temperature and humidity.
Ronseal Decking Stain covers approximately 6.4 m² per litre on average.
It is best to remove old, flaking finishes completely. If the existing finish is sound, light sanding might be sufficient, but always test in an inconspicuous area first. For best results, apply to bare, clean, and dry wood.
This particular product is available in various brown tones, including Cedar, Walnut, Country Oak, Medium Oak, Mahogany, and Teak. A grey variant is also available.
The reapplication frequency depends on factors like foot traffic, weather exposure, and maintenance. Typically, reapplication is recommended every 1-3 years to maintain optimal protection and appearance.
The product is designed for application with a brush. While some users might experiment with rollers or sprayers, a brush ensures the most even and effective application, especially for getting the stain into the wood grain.
It is designed for wooden decking. It's always recommended to test on a small, hidden area of your specific wood type to ensure compatibility and desired results.
Ensure the deck surface was thoroughly cleaned, dry, and free from contaminants like grease or old coatings before application. Improper preparation is the most common cause of poor adhesion.
This can be due to inconsistent application or insufficient stirring of the product. Ensure the stain is thoroughly mixed before and during use, and apply evenly in the direction of the wood grain. Consider a second, thinner coat if necessary.
This might happen if applied too thickly or in very humid conditions. Ensure you applied a thin, even coat and allow adequate drying time in well-ventilated conditions. Avoid walking on the deck until fully dry.
The surface may not have been adequately sealed, or the stain has worn away. Ensure the recommended number of coats were applied and that the product is reapplied as needed, typically every few years.
Preparation is key for optimal performance. Ensure your decking is clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, and old finishes. If necessary, use a deck cleaner and allow it to dry completely. The product is suitable for most wooden decking surfaces.
