Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting the most out of your Nike Premier 3 FG boots involves proper initial setup, understanding their use limitations, and diligent care.
Setup
- Lacing: When first wearing, lace them up snugly but not overly tight. Ensure the tongue is centered and smooth against your foot. The traditional lacing system allows for precise adjustment to match your foot's unique shape.
- Break-in: As these are leather boots, a short break-in period is recommended. Wear them for light training sessions or casual use initially to allow the leather to mold comfortably to your foot. This will prevent discomfort during your first full game.
Compatibility
- Firm Ground (FG) Only: These boots are exclusively designed for use on natural grass pitches that are firm and relatively dry. Using them on artificial turf (AG), soft ground (SG), or indoor surfaces (IC) can damage the outsole, studs, and potentially void any warranty. It can also lead to inadequate grip and potential injury on unsuitable surfaces.
- Foot Type: The leather upper will stretch and adapt over time, making them suitable for a range of foot types, though initial fit might be snug for wider feet.
Care
- Cleaning After Use: Immediately after each use, remove excess mud and dirt using a soft brush or a damp cloth. For tougher stains, a mild soap solution can be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do NOT dry them in direct sunlight, on radiators, or using artificial heat sources, as this can cause the leather to crack or shrink.
- Conditioning: Periodically apply a good quality leather conditioner or cream, especially if the boots are frequently exposed to moisture. This keeps the leather soft, supple, and prevents drying or cracking.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. Using shoe trees or stuffing them with newspaper can help maintain their shape and absorb moisture.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Never machine wash or tumble dry your football boots, as this will damage the materials and construction.
