Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup & Fit Adjustments
Upon receiving your Regatta Birchdale II jacket, take a moment to adjust it for optimal comfort and weather protection:
- Hood Adjustment: Use the adjusters on the `grown-on technical hood` to cinch it around your face, ensuring a snug fit that moves with your head and provides maximum visibility and protection from rain and wind.
- Cuff Adjustment: Tighten or loosen the `adjustable cuffs` around your wrists. This helps to seal out cold air and prevent water from running down your arms.
- Hem Adjustment: Utilise the `shock cord hem` adjusters to create a snug fit around your waist. This helps to trap warmth inside the jacket and stop wind or rain from entering from below.
Compatibility
This jacket is designed as an outer shell and is highly compatible with:
- Layering Systems: Wear it over base layers for moisture wicking and mid-layers (like fleeces or insulated jackets) for warmth in colder conditions.
- Outdoor Gear: Its design allows for comfortable wear with backpacks and harnesses, thanks to its articulated fit and strategically placed pockets.
Product Care
Proper care is crucial to maintain the performance and longevity of your Birchdale II jacket:
- Washing: Machine wash cool. It is essential to use a Regatta Isotex cleaner or pure soap. Avoid conventional detergents, fabric softeners, and bleach, as these can degrade the waterproof and breathable properties of the fabric.
- Drying: Follow label instructions. Typically, air dry or tumble dry on a very low heat setting if recommended, to reactivate the Durable Water-Repellent (DWR) finish.
- Re-proofing: Over time, the DWR finish may wear off. If water no longer beads on the fabric surface, apply a suitable `DWR re-proofing product` following the product's instructions to restore water repellency.
- Storage: Store the jacket clean and dry in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
