FAQs
Are the Cloudmonster trainers suitable for all types of running?
The Cloudmonster is optimized for road running, offering maximum cushioning and a responsive ride. They are ideal for long runs, recovery runs, and daily training, but may feel too cushioned for very fast speedwork or trail running.
How do I determine the right size?
The Cloudmonster 3 generally runs true to size. It is recommended to try them on if possible or consult a sizing chart. A proper fit should feel snug but not tight, with enough room in the toe box.
What is the main difference between Cloudmonster and other ON Running models?
The Cloudmonster features ON's most advanced max-cushioning system, designed for superior impact absorption and a distinct forward-rolling sensation, setting it apart from lighter, faster, or more minimalist models in the ON range.
How often should I replace my Cloudmonster trainers?
Running shoes typically last between 300 to 500 miles (500 to 800 kilometers). However, this can vary based on your running style, weight, and the surfaces you run on. Look for signs of wear, such as compressed cushioning or a worn-out outsole.
Can I wear these shoes for walking?
Yes, the substantial cushioning and comfort make the Cloudmonster suitable for walking. However, their design is optimized for the biomechanics of running.
What does 'CloudTec®' mean?
CloudTec® is ON Running's proprietary cushioning technology. It refers to the unique, hollow 'clouds' or pods on the outsole designed to compress horizontally and then lock out horizontally to create a soft landing and an explosive take-off.
Troubleshooting
Shoes feel too tight or uncomfortable
Ensure you have chosen the correct size. Try adjusting the lacing pattern. If discomfort persists after a few wears, the shoe may not be the right fit for your foot shape.
Reduced responsiveness or cushioning over time
The cushioning materials can compress with extensive use. For optimal performance, consider replacing the shoes after 300-500 miles or when visible signs of wear appear on the outsole and midsole.
Traction issues on wet surfaces
While the rubber outsole provides optimized traction, wet surfaces can always reduce grip. Run with caution on wet roads and consider shoes with more aggressive tread patterns for consistently wet conditions.
Upper material feels less breathable
Ensure the engineered knit upper is clean and free of debris. Clogged pores can reduce airflow. If the issue persists, it might indicate wear and tear on the material's breathability features.

- Cleaning: Gently clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Allow the shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not place them near direct heat sources like radiators or in a tumble dryer, as this can damage the materials.
- Insoles: If removable, clean insoles separately with a damp cloth and allow them to dry completely before reinserting.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
