Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure the boots are laced securely but not overly tight on the first wear. The `lace-up front` allows for personalized adjustment.
- Break-in Period: Leather boots often require a short break-in period to soften and mold to your feet. Wear them for short periods initially before playing a full match.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically designed for soft ground (SG) pitches. This includes natural grass fields that are wet, muddy, or extremely soft. They are not compatible with:
- Hard Ground (HG)
- Firm Ground (FG)
- Artificial Grass (AG)
- Turf (TF)
- Indoor (IN)
Using them on incompatible surfaces can lead to reduced performance, accelerated wear of the studs, and potential injury.
Care Instructions
- Cleaning After Each Use: Immediately after playing, knock off any excess mud. Use a soft brush and water to clean the upper and soleplate. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Drying: Stuff the boots with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape. Allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, which can dry out and crack the leather.
- Conditioning (Leather Upper): Periodically apply a leather conditioner to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking. This is especially important for natural leather uppers.
- Stud Maintenance: Regularly check the studs for wear or damage. While these boots often have fixed studs, ensure they are free of debris to maintain optimal grip.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place. Using a boot bag can protect them from dust and damage.
