FAQs

Does this dye cover grey hair?

No, this semi-permanent dye is designed for color enhancement and is not formulated to provide complete grey coverage.

Can I use this on dark brown hair?

It will likely only provide a faint tint. For the best Sea Mermaid results, your hair should be pre-lightened.

How long should I leave the dye on?

Follow the specific timing instructions provided in the enclosed leaflet to achieve optimal color saturation.

Is it damaging to my hair?

The formula is ammonia-free, which makes it much gentler than permanent dyes, but always ensure your hair is in good condition before coloring.

What happens after 28 washes?

The color will gradually fade out, allowing you to either re-apply or try a different shade.

Troubleshooting

Color is too faint or not showing up.

The base hair color may be too dark; consider lightening the hair to a level 9 or 10 blonde before re-applying.

Staining on skin or bathroom surfaces.

Use a petroleum-based barrier cream on the hairline before application and immediately wipe away any spills on bathroom surfaces with a damp cloth.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Ammonia-free formula minimizes damage
High-shine finish for healthy-looking hair
Fade-resistant for up to 28 washes
Easy application process suitable for beginners

Cons

Color outcome depends on base hair color
May require pre-lightening for maximum vibrancy
Semi-permanent nature means color will eventually fade
Not suitable for covering grey hair effectively

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Before starting, ensure you have gloves and an old towel to protect surfaces, as the pigment is highly concentrated. Always perform a strand test 48 hours prior to full application to check for allergic reactions and to confirm the desired color result. To care for your color, space out your washes and avoid excessive heat styling, which can accelerate the fading process. If you want to switch colors later, the semi-permanent nature makes it easier to transition compared to permanent dyes.
