FAQs

What makes this fleece 'anti-pilling'?

The fabric is treated or manufactured in a way that minimizes the formation of small balls (pills) on the surface, even after washing and wear, maintaining a smoother appearance.

How does the Airtrap technology work?

Airtrap technology involves creating tiny pockets within the fabric structure that trap air. This trapped air acts as an insulator, retaining body heat to keep the wearer warm while still allowing moisture vapor to escape.

Is this fleece suitable as an outer layer in rain?

This fleece is designed primarily as a mid-layer for warmth. It is not waterproof and will not provide adequate protection against rain or strong winds on its own. It should be worn under a waterproof or windproof outer garment for such conditions.

Can I use fabric softener when washing this fleece?

No, it is recommended to avoid fabric softeners when washing this fleece. Fabric softeners can degrade the fibers and reduce the fleece's insulating capabilities and softness over time.

Are there adult versions of this fleece?

Yes, there are matching adult versions available, including the Mens Half Zip Fleece Eliston and Womens Half Zip Fleece Luiston, making it possible for families to coordinate.

What is the weight of the fleece fabric?

The fleece is constructed from a lightweight 160gsm microfleece, providing warmth without adding unnecessary bulk.

Troubleshooting

Fleece feels stiff after washing.

Fabric softeners can cause stiffness. Ensure you are not using fabric softener and try re-washing with a mild detergent only.

Zip is difficult to move.

Check for any fabric caught in the zip. Gently try to free any obstruction. If the zip still sticks, a small amount of graphite from a pencil on the teeth can help lubricate it.

Child feels too warm while wearing it.

Utilize the half-zip neck to provide ventilation. Consider wearing a lighter base layer underneath or removing the fleece if the ambient temperature significantly increases.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: This fleece top requires no setup; it is ready to wear straight out of the packaging.

Compatibility: Designed as a layering piece, it pairs well with t-shirts, long-sleeve base layers, and outer jackets or coats. It is suitable for children aged and can be worn for various activities, from casual outings to outdoor sports.

Care Instructions: To maintain the quality and longevity of the fleece:

  1. Washing: Machine wash at 30°C (86°F) on a gentle cycle.
  2. Detergent: Use a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners, as they can clog the fibers and reduce the fleece's insulating properties.
  3. Drying: Tumble dry on a low heat setting or hang to air dry. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators.
  4. Ironing: Do not iron. The heat can damage the synthetic fibers.
