Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure even tension across the laces. Use a heel lock lacing technique if you experience heel slippage. Proper lacing helps secure your foot and prevents movement that can lead to blisters.
- Break-In Period: While often comfortable out of the box, it's advisable to wear the boots on shorter walks before embarking on a long hike to allow them to conform to your feet.
Compatibility
This boot is compatible with a variety of hiking activities, including:
- Day Hiking: Perfect for single-day excursions on established trails.
- Fastpacking: Its lightweight and agile design supports faster movements over varied distances.
- Light Backpacking: Suitable for trips with lighter loads on moderately challenging terrain.
- Mixed Terrain: Excels on trails combining dirt, gravel, rocks, and some muddy sections.
Care
- Cleaning: After each use, brush off loose dirt and debris. For tougher grime, use a soft brush and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh detergents as they can damage the waterproof membrane. Let them air dry naturally; do not use direct heat sources.
- Drying: Always allow the boots to dry thoroughly in a well-ventilated area after use, especially if they have gotten wet. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain shape.
- Storage: Store your Cloudrock Low WP in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure they are clean and completely dry before storing to prevent mold or mildew growth.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: While waterproof, the outer material's DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating may degrade over time. Reapply a suitable DWR treatment periodically to maintain water repellency.
