Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Upon receiving your Karrimor Urban Waterproof Jacket, simply unpack it and try it on to ensure the fit is comfortable. Familiarize yourself with the foldaway hood mechanism by practicing stowing and deploying it a few times. Adjust the hook-and-loop cuffs to your preferred tightness.
Compatibility
This jacket is designed as an outer shell, making it highly compatible with various layering systems. For colder weather, you can comfortably wear a thermal base layer and a fleece mid-layer underneath. Its urban styling also means it pairs well with everyday clothing for commuting or casual wear.
Care
Proper care is essential to maintain the waterproofing and breathability performance of your jacket. Always refer to the specific care label attached to the garment for detailed instructions. Generally, follow these guidelines:
- Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Use a technical wash designed for waterproof breathable fabrics (e.g., Nikwax Tech Wash) instead of conventional detergents, as detergents can strip away water repellency and clog pores.
- Drying: Do not tumble dry. Line dry or lay flat in a well-ventilated area, away from direct heat. Ensure the jacket is completely dry before folding or storing.
- Avoid: Do not use bleach, fabric softeners, or dry clean. Fabric softeners can damage the waterproof membrane and reduce breathability.
- DWR Reapplication: Over time, the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish on the outer fabric may wear off, causing water to soak into the fabric instead of beading up. If this happens, you can reapply a DWR treatment (spray-on or wash-in, specifically for waterproof breathable garments) after washing.
