FAQs

What is the diameter of these rivets?

These rivets have a shaft diameter of 4.8mm.

How many rivets are in each box?

Each box contains 250 individual rivets.

Can these be used on wood?

Yes, these rivets are suitable for joining wood to other materials, provided the pilot hole is correctly drilled.

What color are these rivets?

These specific rivets are finished in grey.

Do I need a special tool to install these?

No special proprietary tool is required; they are compatible with standard manual or pneumatic rivet guns.

Troubleshooting

Rivet will not seat properly

Ensure the pilot hole is exactly 4.8mm and free of burrs that may prevent the rivet head from sitting flush.

Mandrel does not break off cleanly

Check that the rivet gun's nosepiece matches the 4.8mm size; if the nosepiece is too small, it can prevent the mandrel from reaching the break point.

Joint is loose after installation

Verify that the total thickness of the materials being joined does not exceed the rivet's grip range; if the materials are too thin, the rivet will not clamp properly.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High structural strength and reliable grip
  • Professional-grade finish with a neat dome profile
  • Large box quantity ensures supply for extended projects
  • Compatible with widely available hand and power riveters

Cons

  • Requires a compatible riveting tool
  • Permanent installation cannot be easily undone without drilling out the rivet
  • Grey finish may not suit every color-coded aesthetic requirement

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install, drill a pilot hole exactly 4.8mm in diameter into both workpieces. Insert the rivet into the hole and engage the mandrel with your rivet gun. As you actuate the gun, the mandrel will pull back, compressing the rivet body until it seats firmly against the surface, at which point the mandrel will snap off. Maintain your riveting tool by cleaning the jaws regularly to remove mandrel shavings. Store the remaining rivets in a dry, low-humidity environment to prevent oxidation and ensure the smooth operation of the components.
