Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup & First Use
- Unpack: Remove the shoes from their packaging.
- Lacing: Ensure laces are threaded through all eyelets. Loosen them fully before putting your foot in.
- Fit Check: Put on your preferred walking socks. Insert your foot, ensuring your heel is firmly against the back of the shoe. There should be a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe.
- Lace Up: Tighten the laces from the toes upwards, ensuring a snug but not overly tight fit. Double knot for security.
- Break-in: While often comfortable from the start, a short break-in period on less demanding terrain is recommended before undertaking long walks.
Compatibility
These shoes are primarily designed for:
- Walking: Daily walks, park strolls, urban exploration.
- Light Hiking: Well-maintained trails, forest paths, gentle inclines.
- Wet Weather: Ideal for damp conditions, light rain, and dewy grass.
They are not intended for heavy mountaineering, technical climbing, or extreme cold weather conditions.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning the Upper: For the suede and textile upper, use a soft brush to remove loose dirt and debris. For tougher stains, use a dedicated suede cleaner according to its instructions. Avoid harsh detergents or scrubbing vigorously.
- Drying: If shoes become wet, remove insoles and stuff the shoes with newspaper to absorb moisture. Allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources (like radiators or open fires) which can damage materials.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: While the Weathertite membrane provides initial waterproofing, regular application of a water-repellent spray designed for suede/textile footwear can help maintain the outer material's water resistance and prevent waterlogging.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
