The Asics Gel-Rocket 12 is a premier choice for male indoor athletes, such as volleyball and handball players, who prioritize stability and shock absorption during high-intensity play. FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for running?
No, these are specialized indoor court shoes designed for lateral movement and jumping, not for the repetitive forward motion of long-distance running.
Can I wear these for outdoor sports?
It is not recommended. The outsole is designed for indoor surfaces, and outdoor use will lead to rapid degradation of the tread.
How do I ensure I have the right size?
The Gel-Rocket 12 follows standard UK sizing. Ensure your heel is locked in and your toes have enough room to splay.
What is the primary benefit of the TRUSSTIC system?
It provides structural integrity to the midsole, preventing the shoe from twisting during rapid side-to-side movements.
Does the mesh upper provide enough support?
Yes, while the mesh is breathable for airflow, it is reinforced with structural elements to ensure the foot remains secure during play.
Troubleshooting
Reduced traction on the court
Dust often accumulates on the outsole; wipe the soles with a damp cloth during timeouts to restore grip.
Feeling of discomfort or pinching
Re-lace the shoes to adjust the tension across the midfoot, as the structured fit may require a break-in period.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent shock absorption for jumping sports
- Highly stable platform for lateral movement
- Breathable construction prevents overheating
- Provides reliable grip on polished indoor courts
Cons
- Not suitable for outdoor concrete or asphalt surfaces
- Design is specialized for court sports rather than running
- Non-marking rubber may wear down quickly if used incorrectly
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Gel-Rocket 12 trainers, follow these guidelines:
- Fit: Ensure you have a thumbs-width of space between your toes and the end of the shoe for optimal performance.
- Usage: Use strictly on indoor gym surfaces to preserve the non-marking rubber outsole.
- Cleaning: Wipe the mesh upper with a damp cloth to remove dust. Do not machine wash, as this can degrade the internal cushioning.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the adhesive and foam from drying out.
