Mylands Messel No.39 is an intense, rich olive green paint designed for homeowners and designers who want to introduce a sophisticated, commanding presence to their interiors. Drawing inspiration from the iconic palettes of stage and screen designer Oliver Messel, this paint is ideal for refreshing cabinetry or adding an earthy, natural aesthetic to any room. While it offers a beautifully elegant dead matt finish that hides imperfections well, users should note that the ultra-matt surface may require more gentle cleaning compared to high-sheen alternatives.

While durable, the dead matt finish is best suited for cabinetry and decorative surfaces rather than high-traffic walls prone to frequent touching.
Messel No.39 is primarily designed for wood cabinetry and interior surfaces; ensure you use an appropriate metal primer if applying to non-porous materials.
Use a soft, slightly damp microfiber cloth to gently wipe away dust or light marks. Avoid heavy scrubbing.
Two coats are generally sufficient for full coverage, though darker substrates may benefit from an extra coat for color depth.
Mylands paints are formulated to be low-odor compared to traditional solvent-based paints, but always ensure good ventilation during application.
Ensure you are using a high-quality synthetic brush and avoid over-working the paint once it begins to set.
Check that the surface was thoroughly cleaned and lightly sanded to provide a "key" for the paint to grip.
Before applying Messel No.39, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust or grease. If you are painting over raw wood or high-gloss surfaces, use a high-quality primer to ensure proper adhesion. For application, use a high-quality synthetic brush or a short-pile mohair roller to achieve the signature dead matt finish without leaving heavy brush marks. To maintain the finish, avoid using abrasive sponges or harsh chemical cleaners, as these can damage the delicate matt surface. Instead, clean the area with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap if necessary.
