FAQs

What is the warmth rating of this jacket?

The jacket has a warmth rating of 2, indicating enhanced mid-level insulation suitable for moderate temperatures.

Is this jacket waterproof or water-repellent?

The jacket features a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish, which repels rain and water-based stains. It is not fully waterproof but offers good protection against light to moderate wet conditions.

How do I care for the water-repellent finish?

To maintain the DWR finish, avoid fabric softeners and bleach when washing. Tumble drying on a low heat setting after washing helps to reactivate the treatment. Re-applying a DWR treatment periodically can also enhance performance.

Can I wear this jacket in very cold weather?

The jacket offers mid-level insulation, making it suitable for cooler conditions. For very cold weather, it is recommended to layer it over warmer base layers or consider a jacket with a higher warmth rating.

What does 'PFAS compliant' mean for the DWR finish?

PFAS compliant means the durable water-repellent finish used in the jacket does not contain per- or polyfluoroalkyl substances, which are often scrutinized for environmental persistence.

How does the jacket pack away?

The jacket is designed to be easily compressed and folded into its own integrated stow bag, making it convenient for travel and storage.

What materials is the jacket made from?

The jacket is made from 100% recycled polyester, contributing to sustainable manufacturing practices.

Troubleshooting

Water repellency is decreasing

Ensure the jacket is clean. Try tumble drying on a low heat setting, as heat can reactivate the DWR treatment. If performance is still low, consider applying a DWR re-proofing treatment suitable for synthetic fabrics.

Jacket feels damp inside

This could be due to perspiration if worn during strenuous activity, or the DWR finish may need reactivating. Ensure adequate ventilation if possible, or reactivate DWR as per care instructions.

Zipper is stiff or difficult to move

Check for any fabric caught in the zipper teeth. Gently try to free any obstruction. If necessary, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant or graphite from a pencil to the zipper teeth.

Stains are difficult to remove

For fresh stains, gently blot the area with a damp cloth. If a stain persists, follow the machine washing instructions. Avoid harsh scrubbing which can damage the fabric or DWR coating.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent water and stain repellency
  • Environmentally conscious materials and finish
  • Compact and easy to pack for travel
  • Provides reliable mid-level warmth
  • Practical features like a security pocket and hood

Cons

  • Mid-level insulation may not be sufficient for extreme cold
  • Plain design might lack visual flair for some users
  • Specific washing instructions are necessary to maintain DWR finish

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

This is a ready-to-wear garment. Ensure all zippers are functional before first use.

Compatibility:

Designed for adult women, suitable for a range of outdoor and casual activities. It layers well over mid-weight base layers or sweaters.

Care Instructions:

  • Washing: Machine washable at 30°C on a gentle cycle.
  • Detergent: Use a mild, non-biological liquid detergent. Avoid fabric softeners and bleach, as these can degrade the DWR finish and fabric integrity.
  • Drying: Tumble dry on low heat or air dry. It is recommended to tumble dry after washing to help reactivate the durable water-repellent (DWR) finish.
  • Re-proofing: For optimal water repellency, consider re-applying a suitable DWR spray or wash-in treatment after several washes, following the product's specific instructions.
