Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Lacing: When first wearing your new Predator Elite FG cleats, ensure they are laced securely but not overly tight. The knit collar provides a snug fit, so overtightening can cause discomfort. Experiment with different lacing techniques to find what feels best for your foot shape.
- Break-in: Like most high-performance footwear, these cleats may require a short break-in period. Wear them during light training sessions or warm-ups before using them in a full match to allow them to mold to your foot.
Compatibility
- Surface: These cleats are specifically designed for Firm Ground (FG). This means natural grass pitches that are not excessively wet or muddy. Using them on artificial turf (AG) or very hard ground (HG) is not recommended, as it can reduce their lifespan, compromise traction, and potentially void any warranty.
- Fit: The Predator Elite FG offers a 'locked-in' fit. Ensure the size is correct – your toes should be close to the end without touching uncomfortably, and there should be minimal lateral movement inside the boot.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your cleats:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the upper with a damp cloth to remove dirt and mud. For the outsole, use a brush to clear any trapped mud between the studs.
- Drying: Always allow your cleats to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight, radiators, or tumble dryers, as excessive heat can damage the materials, especially the Primeknit upper and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your cleats in a cool, dry place. Using a cleat bag can protect them from scratches and keep them separate from other gear.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use strong detergents or solvents, as these can degrade the materials. Mild soap and water are usually sufficient.
- Inspect Regularly: Periodically check for any signs of wear, especially on the studs and seams. Early detection of damage can sometimes allow for minor repairs or adjustments to your care routine.
