FAQs

Are these shoes true to size?

The ASICS GEL-NYC 2.0 generally follows standard athletic sizing, but it is recommended to reference your UK size for the best fit.

Can I put these shoes in the washing machine?

No, machine washing can damage the suede overlays and affect the integrity of the foam cushioning; hand cleaning is highly recommended.

Are these trainers waterproof?

No, the upper is crafted from breathable mesh, which allows for airflow but is not designed to repel water.

What is the primary material used?

The upper is constructed from a combination of durable suede overlays and breathable mesh.

Can I use these for running?

While they draw inspiration from heritage running styles, they are designed as lifestyle trainers for everyday wear rather than dedicated high-performance running shoes.

Troubleshooting

Outer material looks dull after heavy use

Use a specialized suede brush to restore the nap of the fabric.

Footbed feels less responsive over time

Remove the insole to air it out and ensure no debris has accumulated underneath.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Superior shock absorption with GEL inserts
Stylish retro-inspired design suitable for casual outfits
High-quality suede and mesh construction for durability
Excellent grip on city sidewalks and paved surfaces

Cons

Not specifically designed for professional long-distance running
Suede material requires careful cleaning to maintain appearance
Light-colored mesh may show dirt more easily than solid materials

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure your ASICS GEL-NYC 2.0 trainers remain in top condition, follow these guidelines:

Break-in Period: While comfortable out of the box, wear them for short intervals indoors to allow the materials to adapt to your foot shape.
Cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush to remove dry dirt from the suede and mesh. For deeper stains, use a dedicated suede cleaner or a damp cloth with mild soap, avoiding complete submersion in water.
Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the suede from fading or the materials from becoming brittle.
Moisture: If the shoes become wet, air dry them naturally away from heat sources like radiators, which can warp the foam midsoles.
