Product Information

Full details

The VidaXL Electric Retractable Awning in cream is designed for homeowners seeking a versatile and stylish shade solution for patios and gardens. Its primary benefit is the combination of a durable, weather-resistant build with the convenience of electric operation, allowing for effortless control over outdoor comfort. However, users should note that the 250cm by 200cm size is fixed and requires professional wall installation, making it less suitable for renters or those requiring highly customized dimensions.

FAQs

Can I install this awning myself?

While it can be a DIY project, it requires structural wall-mounting, so we recommend two people or professional assistance for safety.

Is the fabric waterproof?

The fabric is weather-resistant and features a PU coating that handles light rain, but it is not intended for heavy downpours.

What is the size of this model?

This specific unit measures 250cm in width and 200cm in depth.

Does it need to be unplugged during winter?

It is recommended to fully retract and protect the unit during harsh winter months, and disconnecting power is a safe practice.

Can the awning be operated manually?

This model is primarily designed for electric operation; check your specific user manual regarding manual override capabilities.

Troubleshooting

Awning does not extend or retract

Check the power supply to the motor and ensure the remote control batteries are fresh.

Fabric appears loose or sagging

Check the arm tension adjustments; consult the included manual to tighten the tension settings.

Motor makes unusual noise

Inspect the track for debris or obstructions; clear any leaves or twigs preventing smooth operation.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Convenient electric operation with remote control
  • Durable, corrosion-resistant aluminium construction
  • PU-coated fabric offers excellent weather protection
  • Semi-cassette design keeps fabric clean while retracted
  • Stylish cream aesthetic blends with most home exteriors

Cons

  • Requires wall mounting which may not suit all structures
  • Fixed width and depth dimensions offer no customization
  • Electric components require access to a power source

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Installation of this awning should be handled by those comfortable with wall-mounting hardware, as it requires a secure attachment to the building exterior. Ensure the mounting surface is load-bearing to support the weight of the aluminium frame. For compatibility, ensure you have a standard outdoor electrical outlet nearby to power the motor unit. Maintenance is straightforward: periodically wipe the frame with a non-abrasive cloth and keep the fabric clean by brushing off loose dirt. If the fabric becomes heavily soiled, use a mild soap solution and ensure it is completely dry before retracting it to prevent mold or mildew growth.
