Product Information

Full details

The vidaXL Electric Retractable Awning is an ideal shade solution for homeowners looking to maximize their terrace or garden utility with minimal physical effort. Designed for those seeking a balance of modern aesthetics and weather-resistant functionality, this awning provides an expansive 3.5-meter wide canopy that is easily controlled via remote. While it offers premium convenience and protection, users should note that professional installation is recommended due to the structural requirements of mounting a motorized, heavy-duty unit to a wall.

FAQs

Can I operate this awning manually if the power goes out?

This model is designed as an electric unit; please consult the specific manual included with your unit for emergency override instructions, though reliance on the motor is expected.

Is the fabric waterproof?

The fabric is designed to be weather-resistant and provide shade, but it is not intended for use during extreme heavy rain or windstorms.

What is the total width of the unit?

The awning measures 350cm in width.

Does it come with mounting hardware?

The unit generally includes mounting components, but you must ensure your wall type is compatible and that you use appropriate heavy-duty fasteners for your specific masonry or structure.

What is a semi-cassette?

A semi-cassette is a protective housing that covers the top of the fabric roll when retracted, shielding it from rain and dust while the bottom remains exposed.

Can I install this on a wood fence?

It is not recommended. The awning must be installed on a load-bearing wall, such as a home exterior wall, to handle the mechanical torque of the retracting arms.

Troubleshooting

Awning does not extend or retract via remote.

Check if the unit has power and ensure the remote control batteries are fresh. If the issue persists, check the external power supply connection.

The fabric appears loose or uneven.

Verify that the awning was fully extended during the last cycle; uneven tension often resolves after a full extension and retraction cycle.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Convenient remote-controlled operation
  • Semi-cassette protects fabric when not in use
  • Corrosion-resistant aluminum frame for outdoor durability
  • Stylish white finish fits most modern home exteriors
  • Ample 3.5m x 2.5m coverage area

Cons

  • Requires stable wall mounting infrastructure
  • Requires electrical access for the motor
  • Heavier than manual models due to motorized components

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Proper installation is critical for the safety and performance of this unit. Always ensure the mounting surface (such as a brick or concrete wall) is structurally sound enough to support the weight of the motorized frame.

  1. Installation: Given the electric motor and heavy-duty frame, we strongly recommend professional installation to ensure proper anchoring and electrical connection.
  2. Cleaning: Gently brush off loose dirt from the fabric periodically. If the fabric becomes heavily soiled, use a mild soap and water solution with a soft brush, then allow it to air dry completely before retracting.
  3. Seasonal Care: During long periods of heavy rain or severe winter conditions, keep the awning fully retracted inside its semi-cassette to preserve the motor and material life.
